Ancient Greek[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Inherited from Proto-Hellenic *kúklos, *kʷókʷlos, from Proto-Indo-European *kʷékʷlos (circle, wheel); unexplained change, should have been *τεπλος (*teplos). Cognate with Mycenaean Greek 𐀓𐀐𐀩𐀄 (ku-ke-re-u).
