語源[編集]

バントゥ祖語 *-yí̧cōdī̧ より[1]。

Hinde (1904) は英語 tears にあたるキクユ語「ジョゴウィニ方言」（Jogowini dialect）の訳語として maithorri を記録している[2]。なお、これに対応するカンバ語は methoii とされている[2]。

発音(?)[編集]

  • IPA: /ɾèìðɔ́ɾì(ꜜ)/
Benson (1964) では声調クラスの分類は「クラス3」で、他に同クラスの3音節語幹語には kĩgokora、mbarĩki、kiumĩri、thimiti などがある[3]。
