Hutchins (1909) では Ochna sp. のキクユ語名として m'Ngarìma が記録されている[3]。

Benson (1964) では声調クラスの分類は「クラス8」で、他に同クラスの3音節語幹語には gĩtayaaya、ngũngũni、weereere、baatĩrĩ などがある。
