語源[編集]

Hutchins (1909) では何らかのクワ科イチジク属の種（Ficus sp.）のキクユ語名として m'Gumu が記録されている[1]。

発音(?)[編集]

  • IPA: /mòɣùmɔ̀(ꜜ)/
Benson (1964) では声調クラスの分類は「クラス1」で、他に同クラスの2音節語幹語には gĩteke、ndaka、kĩama などがある。

  1. 特定のクワ科イチジク属の高木 (wp)。フィクス・トニンギイ (Ficus thonningii[5][3], syn. F. hochstetteri[6]) もしくはフィクス・ナタレンスィス (Ficus natalensis[7][8])。キクユ人 (wp)からは神聖視されており[3]、少なくともフィクス・トニンギイの方はニェリ県において樹皮や葉が煎じ薬として腸内に寄生する虫や風邪、赤痢 (wp)に対して用いられることも報告されている[9]。
